Another Cousteau Hat

This one was requested by the boy so I got right to work on it. It's rare that he gets very excited about stuff his mom makes. And who can blame him--a lot of the stuff is pretty girly. :) But he took a liking to the Cousteau Hat when I made one for my husband. So his wish is my command.
Right now this minute they are both out in the garage wearing their hats working on a Pinewood Derby car. I love it!

IF - Climbing

Please excuse Whitley if she looks a little tired, social climbing is a tired business! It's no wonder she and Moopsy need to stop for tea.

The theme this week for Illustration Friday is Climbing.

New Name Signs

These are the newest ones. The top two went in the mail today and the bottom one is for a friend here in town.
As always, name signs are available in my bumblebina ETSY shop.

Inspire Me Thursday - Breakfast

It may not be your typical breakfast, but it's what you really want. Admit it.

The theme this week for Inspire Me Thursday is breakfast.

IF - Pale

I kept this painting very pale. I wanted it to be soothing and subtle. It's called "Serenity" and I think it would be so lovely in a nursery or child's room--or any bedroom really. This painting has a really nice calm feel to it.

This is my entry for Illustration Friday this week. The theme this week is Pale.

Here's What Just Came Off My Needles

I just finished this hat from this pattern for my husband to wear in his woodworking shop (he's camera shy so the picture is of the hat on me). Now my son is asking for one. I love the swirling decrease at the top. It's fun.

Newest Name Sign

This one is a housewarming gift for the parents of the woman who ordered it. She wanted the colors to match Georgia Tech. I did this on the larger size (4" x 9") since it's for their front door. Both sizes of name signs--3" x 8" and 4" x 9"--are available now in my bublebina ETSY shop.

IF - Contained

I did this painting waaaaay back in 2008--remember that year when we all wore jeans and t-shirts and still watched "Pushing Daisies"? :) (I'm so mad it was cancelled!!!)

I've had trouble keeping it contained, but I didn't want to post about it until things settled down after the holidays. And yesterday I finally took down my outside Christmas lights. So the holidays are officially over. Time to get into the swing of things...

This is my entry for Illustration Friday. The theme this week is CONTAINED.

This painting is available in my ETSY shop.

New Folk Painting Available on ETSY - Irish Blessing

I tried something completely new with this painting. My husband has a machine that carves into wood--"The Robot" as my kids reverently call it. :)

So we carved the words into the wood before I did the painting. Theoretically the grooves of the letters would keep the black ink contained when I went back in to paint them.

It actually worked for the most part--I just had to use a tiny brush and do a little bit of touch up here and there. I LOVE the end result! The lettering adds so much to the finished painting.

Below is the scanned image. The colors are a little more true to life. (Ignore the line near the top, that's where I merged the two images since this painting is too long to fit on my scanner.)

Irish Blessing, 2008, 14" x 6", Acrylics and Mixed Media on 3/4" MDF (available)

This painting is available in my ETSY shop.
