It's time again for the EBSQ Ripped Off Show. I was lucky enough to be able to partner up with an artist I greatly admire--Alma Lee.

Folk Art Lady - Inspired by My Daughter

Whenever my daughter draws girls she has them holding their little skirts out as if they are about to curtsy. (I know I'm biased, but she is gifted, right?)

Anyway, I think it's adorable and knew I had to do one of my Folk Art Ladies this way--with her little skirt just so. Here she is. This is Jane and she's rather charming waiting to be asked to dance.

She was my entry in the EBSQ Reinterpreting Children's Art Show and won "Member's Mention" in that show.

I love the side polka dots--so playful and sweet!

Inspire Me Thursday - Petals

"Sunshine out of a pure sky, with not a drop of rain" is what this painting says. It looks like a beautiful May day and the flower petals are brilliant and bright in the afternoon sun.

This painting is based on a card my daughter gave me last year for Mother's Day. So I've also entered it in the EBSQ Show Reinterpreting Children's Art.

IF - Impossibility

Being poisoned by your evil stepmother and kissing a frog to find your handsome prince are improbable, but not a total impossibility!!

This is my entry for Illustration Friday this week. The theme is Impossibility.

This piece is also my entry for the EBSQ Junk Mail Show. Much of the collage elements came right from my junk mail pile.

And it's also my entry for the Nibblefest Art Contest for this month.

EBSQ Ripped Off Show 2008

This is my entry for the EBSQ Annual Ripped Off Show this year. For this show you are partnered up with someone and do your take on one of their paintings. I was lucky enough to be partnered with a fantastic artist, Kris Jean. I love her work and I was so excited to work with her! "Kelly" is my take on her wonderful painting below.

EBSQ Portrait Swap 2007

This is my entry for the EBSQ Portrait Swap Show for 2007. I swapped with Madeline Carol Matz. I really wanted to try something new for this and after browsing Madeline's blog, I thought she'd be up for something different.

I began by painting a wood block and wood ball black. I painted the head on the ball. I tried to capture Madeline's beautiful blue eyes and lovely hair. I collaged the front of the block with sky paper and words. (The quote is Madeline's favorite.) I then added some golden embellishments. The arms are a pencil and a paint brush since Madeline is an amazing artist. The legs are vintage door stoppers.

The entire piece has a very fun, playful feel to it which is what I was going for since that was the feel I got from Madeline herself.
