NFAC - Rivers and Trees

Amidst all the Teacher Signs I've been making, I did find a moment or two to paint. The theme this month for Nibblefest is Rivers and Trees and I knew I couldn't pass up the chance to paint some more Mini Trees. They make me happy.

These two are available now on e-bay! *(UPDATE: Both have SOLD)

Inspire Me Thursday - Cupcakes

Oh, how I love cupcakes. I just had 1 (or 2) last night for my son's birthday.

These little Cottage Cupcakes are painted on wood and can stand by them selves.

A Birthday Package for My Niece

I've been dying to post these, but had to wait until they arrived at their destination. My niece is turning 1 this week and her mom (my sis) requested a painting for her gift. She just requested a painting. She left the subject up to me. So I decided my angel niece would enjoy a sweet little elephant and bird. So here's her painting (12" x 9" acrylic on canvas):

The painting is for her wall, but she needs something to play with. So this fun knit ellie is for her. It quite large for a toy actually--9" from bum to tip of trunk. Don't you just want to hug it?

And my sweet little angel niece has an equally sweet angel older sister who is 3. She needed an Un-Birthday gift, so this crazy little Bunny Nugget went into the package for her:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having so many fun little girls to knit and paint for!!! And soon my other sis will be having a baby boy, so pull out the blue yarn--it's time to make some boy stuff!!

Fancy Schmancy

These took about 10 minutes to make, the flip flops were on sale for $.75, and she's been wearing them ever since. We even had to paint her toenails to match. You can't beat that.

To make them, you just single crochet around the straps, constantly pushing the yarn down so they are super furry. These were done with Paton's Allure and a size 6mm (J) hook.

IF - Modify

This piece started out as an acrylic painting--just acrylics. But it needed something...so I modified it A LOT. I added, fabric flowers, buttons, a fabric butterfly, a paper butterfly, a plastic bird, ink, paper, colored pencils and pen. Sometimes the "this isn't working, what can I add to this painting" is my favorite part. I open all my art drawers and see what I have and start placing things on the canvas to give them a try. FUN!

This painting is called "How Does your Garden Grow?".

Mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas, 9" x 12", Private Collection (aka my niece's bedroom)  :)
