IF - Adapt

Jane, 7.5" x 4.5", Acrylics and Mixed Media on 1/2" MDF

Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.
---Arthur Gordon 'Art' Linkletter

Jane always thought so. If someone wasn't going to ask her to dance, well by golly, she'd adapt to the situation and ask someone herself!

The Talker's Got a New Bag

My 7 year old daughter has been wanting to practice her knitting on big needles. She thought that would be easier to control than the size 9’s I started her on. So I took her to my yarn cabinet, hoping to sway her towards something bulky and cheap. She went right for the Cascade Magnum. It’s bulky, but it ain’t cheap! :) I had just a tiny bit left over from a previous knitting project so she set to work on her big needles (size 17's).

She knitted the whole thing herself with just a few questions here and there. Then for the finishing, she chose EVERYTHING–the lining fabric, the flower, the button–everything. And I must say, I think it’s absolutely adorable!!

It’s the perfect size for a (fake) cell phone and a lip gloss or 4 lip glosses. This is according to the proud creator of the purse. She LOVES it. :)

Is that a sweet little proud face or what?

Some Crazy Birds

My angel nephews are turning 1 in a few days. Their parents spent some time in New Zealand before the boys were born AND they are just a little obsessed with birds, so I thought these funny little Kiwi Birds would be the perfect gift for the boys.

They kind of look like Gonzo. I love that about them.

Inspire Me Thursday - Altered Ancestors

Last year I did this little set of cupcakes.

And these Cottage Cupcakes are my most recent paintings. They are sort of the altered ancestors of the first set of cupcakes. I think it's sort of interesting to see the way my work is evolving. My hope, as an artist and as an individual, it to always be growing, learning and changing.

Cottage Cupcakes, 3.5" x 3.5" x 1.5" each, mixed media on wood (SOLD)

Teacher Name Sign

I'm guessing this will probably be my last Teacher Name Sign until school starts back up again in the fall. Although if you need one, they are available any time in my ETSY shop.

I love this color scheme. It's the school colors of this particular teacher, but red, black and white just say "school", don't they? Makes me think of apples and chalkboards I guess.

IF - Cracked

I've tried to stop, really I have. But then I just cracked...I just have to paint more cupcakes. That's all there is to it. I JUST LOVE CUPCAKES. Is that so wrong???

Cottage Cupcakes, each cupcake is 3.5" x 3.5", Acrylics and Mixed Media on 1-1/2" wood (SOLD)

It's Nibblefest Time!

This little guy has been through a lot. He's a tough little warrior though.

Now this is all pretty hush, hush, but at one time Barbie had a little "thing" with Oscar (that's right, THE grouch). Garbie here is their love child. This is the secret Barbie doesn't want anyone to know.

Poor Garbie--he's not welcome in the Dream House and he really doesn't fit in on the Street (Sesame, that is). Won't you give him a good home?

This is my entry for the Nibblefest Art Contest for May on e-bay. The theme this month is "The Secret Life of Toys". Shhhh, don't tell Barbie's dirty little secret. :)

Two New Name Signs

These were both given out this weekend as birthday gifts for my daughter's sweet friends. She and I have fun picking the colors together when I make these for her friends. BTW, right now she is very into lime green and SOOO over pink it's not even funny. :)

Hot Off the Needles

This little cutie is just for me. Sometimes a girl's just got to make something for herself. This little cabled bag was made with Cascade Magnum, which has to be one of my favorite yarns out there. It's like butta'!

I knew I'd find a good use for this luscious fabric. It makes the perfect liner to this little clutch.

Inspire Me Thursday - Petals

*SOLD*

"Sunshine out of a pure sky, with not a drop of rain" is what this painting says. It looks like a beautiful May day and the flower petals are brilliant and bright in the afternoon sun.

This painting is based on a card my daughter gave me last year for Mother's Day. So I've also entered it in the EBSQ Show Reinterpreting Children's Art.

IF - Contagious

This is Garbie and they're not sure what he has, but I sure hope it isn't contagious!

(Garbie will be available on e-bay on May 20th as part of the Nibblefest Art Contest).

New Paintings Now in my ETSY Shop

These two new paintings are now listed in my ETSY shop. The colors on these two are so bright and happy!

Aren't they an attractive couple? They are listed separately, but I think there is some chemistry there between them.

These are going in the mail/being delivered this morning. Teacher name signs are always available in my ETSY shop.

New Uses - A Crafty Tip

You know those little scoops you get in laundry detergent? They make the best little containers for beads! I use them whenever I make beaded socks or when I am doing my name sign hangers. They are easy to pour back into the bead bag or container and they can stack on each other and hold the beads in. And the best thing is I get a new one every 40 loads! :)

And This One is All For Me

How fun is this little Bunny Nugget? The pattern is from Rebecca Danger and I'll tell you, I'm more than a little in love with all of her crazy creations!!

Made this one just for me. Not sure what I'll do with him. I may put him on my nightstand. Wouldn't this be a fun face to wake up to?

Next my daughter suggested making a little chick like this so it can be called a....you guessed it-- chicken nugget!! :) Clever girl.

BTW, I have actually been doing A LOT of painting this week. I've finished up several paintings that were in the "half done" phase and now I have several more in the "almost done" phase. I'll post them soon...

An Alien Encounter

It's rare that I can find a knitting project that my son will be excited about. So when I saw this pattern for a little alien, I knew I had to make it--with SEVERAL modifications. I added arms to mine so he could be holding this sign when I set him outside my son's door last night. My son woke up to find this little guy waiting for him in the hall this morning.

New Name Signs

These new name signs are going in the mail this morning.

This Teacher Name Sign is for a teacher who loves Starbust candies. That's where the color scheme came from. Isn't it juicy? :)

And this sign is to add to some connected signs I made a few months ago. This is a new addition to the family.

All personalized Name Signs are available in my bumblebina ETSY shop.

A Baby Gift

This was a gift for a friend's baby shower last night. I can finally post about it now that's it's out the door and in it's new home. This fun little set has been making me smile all week. The hat is from a pattern in Susan Anderson's Itty Bitty Hats. And I just had to make socks to match!
