I NEVER work in pencil anymore. But I decided to do a full page spread with just pencil. The Sunday Faces were done with a Pental P205 Mechanical Pencil and the pies were done with a regular No. 2 pencil.
I had forgotten how much I love to shade with graphite pencil. Pencil is very fragile and delicate to me--the pages can smear and that bugs me. So I did spray a bit of a Matte Fixative on the pages once the drawings were done to avoid that.
On the Sunday Faces page I decided to use the ghosting from the previous page to my advantage and used the squares that I could already see through the page as my guide.

Sunday Sketch - October 18, 2015
These were done for a little lesson at church today. Both are Sharpie and Prisma Markers on cardstock.

Sunday Sketch - May 24, 2015
I am constantly inspired by Stephanie Ackerman of Homegrown Hospitality. This Sunday Sketch was inspired by THIS POST on her blog. As was the drawing below which I did on a gift bag for a friend.
The bag seemed plain and boring so I just grabbed a Sharpie and had some fun. This way of doodling is fun and relaxing. I love it!!

Sunday Sketches - 08/31/14
I'm nearing the end of this composition book and the wear and use is really starting to show. The outside edge is sort of dingy and smudged with graphite. There are water splotches.
I have loved this book and lugged it around for a long time. But I will admit I am ready for a fresh new book.

Sunday Sketches - 08/17/14
In my Sunday Sketches I like to practice different types of lettering, but I always seem to go back to faces. This has been the story of my art since I was a child. It always comes back to faces. I LOVE drawing faces!!
I've been binge watching re-runs of Will and Grace so as I was watching yet another episode tonight, I decided to draw them. I kind of need to figure out how to make my figures look a bit happier, but in this instance it sort of works. They have that edgy NY attitude going on. :)
