Lookie What I Got!

I just got this pomegranate from a fellow EBSQ artist Annie Marcelletti-Murray. Isn't it gorgeous? I love the colors. Right now it's keeping me company in my studio until I can find the perfect place for it.

A Collaboration - Patio Table

My husband just built us a beautiful new dining room table. (Seriously, it's amazing!) So we had our old "passed down to us from someone it was passed down to before that" dining room table from the seventies? eighties? Who knows? (When we got it in '96 we were it's third family that we know of). Super sturdy and solid and well made, but oh so dated. So I knew I had to paint on it. My largest canvas yet--3' x5'. Here it is before:

My daughter and I worked on it together. We drew flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, hearts--you know, all the fun girly stuff on it. Then we painted it with all the fun girly colors. :) Here she is working on one of the flowers:

And here is the final table. We have put many, many layers of varnish on it and it's going to be our new patio table. Won't this be fun to eat outside on? I can't wait!

Here it is outside on the patio ready for a party!

I entered this on A Soft Spot to Land for DIY Day!

Ribbon Organization

I am finding the greatest ideas on this Crafty Storage blog! Here's my newest organization find. Of course I have my amazing ribbon wall unit (love it!) but I needed something for the bits of ribbon that are too small for a spool. I had them in this fun box just jumbled up before. Which was good, but not a great solution.

So here's what I did. My daughter and I spent a fun afternoon cutting cardboard pieces to fit in the box, wrapping them with craft paper and then we spooled the ribbon around them. (My daughter's favorite job was seperating the ribbon into color piles--the apple did not fall far from the tree!)

Now I can see everything I have all at the same time. And doesn't it look pretty?

A Great New Find

I found this at Robert's when I was in Utah. It's a magnet board with tons of little canisters that stick to it. I added the paper and ribbon to make it cuter. It's the perfect place for pins, eyelets, grommets, etc.

I've Been Busy...

I had a lot of name sign orders waiting for me when I came home from vacation. So I locked myself in my studio for a few days and here's what came out of it:

Whew, crazy, huh? Actually I had a lot of fun. These name signs are so fun to do. Some went in the mail today and some will go out tomorrow.

Look Kids, a Picasso!!

I'm in Salt Lake City visiting family and I just took the kids to this exhibit--Monet To Picasso at the University of Utah. It was amazing. If you live anywhere near Salt Lake, go see it. If this exhibit travels to your city, go see it. It's wonderful!

They have one full room of Picasso's. My son wanted me to calculate the total value of all the paintings in the room. (He's a real money guy.) Paintings in the Picasso room? Millions and millions probably. Getting to take my kids to see them? Priceless. (Okay, it cost us $35.00 to get in plus $25 for the lovely exhibit catalogue, but it was totally worth it.)

This painting was my absolute favorite. It is absolutely luminous. The colors are so delicious I wanted to lick the canvas. :)

I was also so excited to see this Modigliani. I've always been a fan of his and I've always loved this lady in particular!! When I saw this painting from across the room it was like seeing an old friend.

Okay, just one more. This one is a little study by Seurat. It's quite small, probably one of the smallest in the exhibit. But it's just so lovely!
