Inspire Me Thursday - Purple and Orange

Sunny Day Flower, 2008, acrylics and mixed media on canvas, SOLD

Three Trees II, 2004, acrylic and texture on canvas, SOLD

The theme this week for Inspire Me Thursday is orange and purple. Two of my favorite colors. These are my entries for this week. One is a very recent painting, the other is an oldie, but a goodie. I haven't re-visited my "Three Trees" series in a while. Hmmm...inspiration is flowing. :)

A New Name Sign

This one is for a friend at church. This time I picked the colors which was a fun change. It's so feminine and sweet. Just like 13 day old little Jennifer herself!

It's the 20th so It's Time for Nibblefest Again!

If you're not familiar, Nibblefest is an art contest every month on e-bay. There is a theme each month and several artist submit auctions all starting at just $.99! Here's my entry for this month.

The theme this month is Jungle Life. This painting was inspired by a line in an old song-- "Where do you go to dream?" As I thought about the theme for Nibblefest this month the phrase "It's a Jungle Out There," kept coming to me. And I decided that home is a great place to feel safe, escape from the jungle and to dream.

IF - Wide

This is Jude (she's holding a sign that says "Hey" so I really had to name her Jude, didn't I?) and she has something to say on a wide range of topics.

This is my painting for Illustration Friday this week. The theme is wide.

(10" x 10", acrylics and mixed media on canvas)

Three New Little Ladies

These little ones are quite prim and proper, aren't they?
Chloe, 6" x 4.75" acrylics and mixed media on 3/4" MDF (*SOLD*)

Katherine, 7" x 5" acrylics and mixed media on 3/4" wood (*SOLD*)

Sarah, 8.25" x 3.5" acrylics and mixed media on 3/4" MDF (*SOLD*)

Two New Name Signs

Got orders for these two this week. Purples because that's Ms. Gonzales' favorite color. She's a kindergarten teacher. And how fun is Indigo's bedroom color scheme? Pink, hot pink, yellow and orange. I love it!
I still have 3 Teacher Name Signs available in my ETSY shop and the kids' signs are on e-bay and ETSY right now.

This is What I've Been Doing This Week

I've had several orders for Teacher Name Signs this week. Here's the latest three. Aren't they fun? I have one more 4" x 10" Teacher Name Sign available in my ETSY shop. Then I'll list some 4" x 9" ones. Not a big difference, it's just how we cut the wood this time. The teacher signs are bigger than the regular ones to accommodate the Mr., Mrs., Miss or Ms. The regular name signs are still on ETSY and they are 3" x 8".

Julia - Now in my ETSY Shop

Are you sick of seeing this one yet or what? Can you tell I sort of love her? I've only posted about her like 10 times. But like "Mayzie", it's time for "Julia" to go to ETSY and (hopefully) out into the world. So she's now available in my ETSY shop.

IF Seed- Fern

Just finished this today. This is Fern. Her skirt says "Fern" and the text by her shoulder says "It's been a lovely day." I had quite a lovely day with her today. Sometimes paintings just click and it's AWESOME!

This little lady is doing double duty this week. She is my entry for Illustration Friday for the theme "Seed". Ferns come from a seed, right? :-)

She is also my entry for the Flower of the Month Show on EBSQ this month. The flower this month is ferns. I'm hoping to enter the Flower of the Month shows more often with these little "Flower Girls". I hesitate to call it a series because it seems like when I start something and call it a series, I never do more than one. Remember "Blind Date #1"? I never did get to "Blind Date #2". :-)

She's not really cut in half, but the canvas is 16" x 8" and only half fits in the scanner at a time. I'll take her outside for more pictures tomorrow when the sun is out. But I wanted to post her now cause I'm pretty excited about her. She's probably headed for e-bay. I'll keep you posted.

Two New Name Signs

Two new name signs. The first is for a friend from church for her new baby. The second is an ETSY order for a Teacher Name Sign. Won't that be a fun end-of-the-year gift?
Child's and Teacher name signs are available in my ETSY shop.

If You'll Indulge Me a Little...

I am a proud mama this week. My 6 year old did this drawing of one of my paintings. My husband asked her if anyone helped her draw it and she said, "Well, mom helped a little because I looked at her painting to draw it." I am a little biased, but isn't her drawing wonderful?

Mayzie - Now in My ETSY Store

Mayzie, 12"x12"
Poor Mayzie, "...a daisy was sprouting right out of her hair". I did this painting for a Dr. Seuss show. It's inspired by a Dr. Suess book called "Daisy-Head Mayzie". I painted Mayzie in my style although I kept the Dr. Suess classic red and white stripes by adding them for her eye lids.

I've had her in my studio for a while. I've been too attached to her to let her go, but it's time to send her off into the world and make room for new paintings. So Mayzie is now in my ETSY shop.
